I just think this “religion” is so funny. Scientology came from a freaking sci-fi novel. Didn’t the founder name the aliens thetans in his book? I mean really, what the hell is wrong with these people?

Hey ‘Randomiser’!
Visiting the blog after a really long time. Have been off the circuit for a while…and woah! that’s quite a bit of writing up there. I know I’m not going to be complaining about the lack of reading material for sometime now :)

And thanks for that comment…I really have to do something about this ‘footprints’ on the net.

Scary that even in a world which claims it’s open-minded and tolerant and believes and backs the right to expression, the opposites hold truth. I do find it extremely disturbing to think that I could be victimised for holding certain views which though not necessarily reflecting the majority, the immoral or the illegal, are still valid enough to be held onto.

But alas, freedom is not free!
Thanks Randomiser…I really *do* need to be careful :)

@Sallu – yeah, no one would’ve heard of this cult if it wasn’t for the celebrities who joined in. Unfortunately most people think celebrities are role-models and whatever they do ought to be the right thing. Who would think actors like John Travolta, Tom Cruise, and so many others would join a cult ?

People don’t realize that these celebrities may be experts at Acting, but beyond that they’re as good as any one else, and as susceptible to scams like Scientology as any other.

About ‘Randomizer’, I know I am in controversial territory on my blog, and want to prevent digital footprints of mine to haunt me later on. Also I want to remain bold in my opinions without having to worry about political correctness all the time

There is a fine line between ‘Religion’ and ‘Cult’, and I am not sure at what point exactly one becomes the other. If it is merely in terms of ’size’ , then Scientology has about 500,000 members. If it’s about ‘harm’ to it’s members, then who is to say what exactly defines ‘harm’? Radical Islam/christianity would be ‘cults’ too by that definition.

Did you know they had a specific mission to recruit ‘celebrities’, Tom Cruise being their biggest and earliest finds ? You just have to admire their tactics as a corporation that is hard to stop.

Mind-control at it’s worst.

How then can people in their right mind say that one should not be discriminated on the basis of their religious beliefs ? Having watched and read about Scientology, its impossible not to. Its hard to imagine befriending/marrying or being in any kind of a close associations with lunatics like that. Nicole must be smarter for having left that jerk. Consolation – At least we have not yet had a scientologist suicide bomber ;-)
